So for various logistical reasons, I'll be doing my own makeup and hair for our wedding.

Hair wise, my plan will be half up/down with a few curls on the ends. My hair is straight so that should be straightforward enough, but would like to incorporate a bit of volume at the roots. Makeup - I think I'm pretty decent at doing mine, I like smoky eyes, neutral lip so anything in that regard that might give me a few new techniques to practice would be helpful.

I plan to have waxing and eyebrows (maybe henna) done the week before, and two days before, do the tan and the nails. Does this sound like a good timeline?

Something you need to consider is how the makeup will photograph. Products with SPF can make you look washed out when flash is used.

You'll also want to think about longevity, so a primer and setting spray will be worth looking into.

Are you doing your own tan? Either way get a test run done so you can make sure your foundation will match on the day.

Definitely check out Lisa Eldridge on Youtube, she has great tutorials.

I'm so bad at doing hair so I've no advice there!

Look up Sinead Cady / The Makeup Chair on YouTube. I find that she's good at explaining things when doing a tutorial. I've followed a few of her tutorials when doing makeup as a guest for weddings.

For hair - I'd recommend another Sinead - Sinead from The Beautiful Truth on instagram - I think she has a good tutorial about getting volume in her hair. Personally I'm not great at hair myself, I try to blow dry my hair upside down but my hair is fine, I just have lots of it so the volume doesn't hold for me personally. Now there's a Batisste dry shampoo for volume and it does give some, I'm just not mad how it feels in my hair.

When I was a bride, I chose to wear light makeup; I chose colors that were as natural as possible, and because my hair was long, I also had curly hair. It was such a light, summer look with a wreath on the head. If I had to choose my makeup and hairstyle now, I would choose the same because the romantic style is what represents me. And by the way, I did my makeup because I took a course at school at http://www.nwcollege.edu, and it wasn't so hard for me. I took my time and enjoyed the process while my cousin was doing my hair.
