Organising saved Glasnevin records

Absolutely a first world problem, I am aware, but am I missing something in terms of how to organise purchased records from Glasnevin (Dublin Cemeteries Trust)?

Is there some way to display them, either alphabetically, or even by date purchased?

I have ended up with more than 15 pages of jumbled results, where even if I order a new record today, it seems to just get flung into the middle of them all and I have to look page by page to find it.

I’m a fan of Excel and use it regularly for records.

Spreadsheets are ideal for ‘bulk’ records. E.g. I have one for ancestor newspaper mentions which works well for me. The four column headings are Date, Newspaper, Item (in full if v.short or precis) and Notes. The latter contains my comments on the event/person. I use the American date format (Year, month, day) as it fits better into a table and is easily ‘sorted’ by Excel. Also, I have the page set-up in landscape mode as it reads better when printed. It should be quite simple to replicate something similar for Glasnevin records.

For deaths I definitely would go with date first; also would use the surname.forename format (Smith, John) as Excel can sort more usefully that way.

I actually think Spurious is talking about how they are formatted on the Glasnevin website. I agree it's a mess and that new ones just randomly appear.

I download each record either as a pdf (for a full grave) or an image for a single line and label it with the person or family name, so I don't then have to access them again on the website.

Yes, I meant on their website, sorry for the confusion.

It really is very messy. Perhaps they never expected anyone would be ordering more than a few.

It also lists everyone in the grave rather than the name you were interested in.

The default sort of Glasnevin records is by plot Reference.

Only if you have purchased the full records for the grave :-)

I always do - the stories I've found by doing it!
