Hi we have 5 rsjs in the garden left by previous owners. We plan to do some work on house so two questions - are they safe to use? Or is there any value in selling them? They are v rusty, length 2x 450cm and 3x 250/280cm approx and looking to tidy up garden so not sure what best to do with them - advice appreciated

bring them to a scrap yard. You’ll get paid by the weight. No one here can comment on whether they are suitable for any other purpose

Depends what you want to use them for I'd say. I had some similar ones from an old hay shed. I used them as support for a low garden wall beside a deck. Meant I didn't have to build the wall up from ground level, as the deck was already 500mm above the ground. Saved a lot of time and stone. Still fine 13 years later.

Would make handy field gate posts.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Worth 25 euro per 100 kilos approx in a scrap yard, or maybe a farmer may buy them for gate hangers, rsj/rail line making 4-6 euro per foot

I used one for that as well, and then the farmer I rent the land to hit it with a trailer.
