Do you know if we still have funding for the runway extension secured?
Didn't one of the private investors pull out sure?
and the Cork Shams going one better than all the rest better by projecting forward another 20 years...boy
Ah jaysus no way. I feel like if they could just get that runway extended and bring in a decent carrier the airport could get a lot of good momentum.
Its the perfect time for regional airports with all the shite in Dublin at the moment. Arriving 3.5 hours before your flight, queueing and stress of possibility missing your flight. Add 2 - 3 hours travelling to the airport and the extortionate parking fees and rip off burger and pint charges, enough reasons to pay an extra €50 to fly from a local hassle free airport. Sooner the runway is extended the better it will be for everyone.
I recall one of the proposed investors claiming last year to have no involvement with it any longer.
Tough sell to get investment here IMO, particularly when you take the company's awful track record into consideration.
Also I think €12m was the figure floated back in 2020 that is needed to build the runway extension. I can only imagine that with the way inflation is at the moment this cost has ballooned even higher.
David Cullinane saying the runway would now cost €15 million as opposed to the initial €12 million and that the private funding has still not been secured.
Also said the next few weeks are critical for the Airport.
