12GB Roaming data gone in 24 hours

    I’m wondering if anyone has had this experience and what happened.

    I am in Spain since Thursday. I am with Tesco Mobile and my monthly allowance starts on the 16th so yesterday I had 15GB of roaming data.

    When I checked today I have 2.17 left!!! That’s over 12 GB used in 24 hours. How is that even possible? That’s the equivalent of browsing the internet for 144 hours.

    I cannot my usage logs on the app and the customer service guy is lost. I’ve been on with him through their chat for 2 hours now and the latest suggestion has been to delete the app and turn my phone off and on again!

    I sent about 15 WhatsApp messages yesterday, spent half ab hour on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and downloaded a crochet pattern from my files. Somehow this has added up to 12GB of data.


    Any suggestions as to how this happened and how do I get it back? I’m here for another week and will have no data left by tonight the way my phone is eating it

    Did you leave YouTube running or ... have a rogue app on your phone. Turn off mobile internet when not actively using your phone.

    I really don’t know. It’s not YouTube anyway. I will turn off mobile internet for the rest of the week when not using it as I’ve only 2GB left when I expected to have 15.

    I’m just amazed that any app would use that much data running in the background when it never has before. I tend to use 4 GB a month of mobile data at home. So 12 Gb in a day when using my phone less than normal is very unusual

    Search the make and model of your phone in Google for data useage. There should be an option in the phone itself to see how much data each app is using. An hour of full HD video could use 1.5GB.

    It would be something like...

    1. Start the Settings and tap "Network & Internet."

    2. Tap "Data Usage."

    3. On the Data usage page, tap "View Details."

    4. You should now be able to scroll through a list of all the apps on your phone, and see how much data each one is using. You can change the time period using the date control at the top of the page and see more details about data usage by tapping on a specific app.

    Check Facebook auto playing videos etc , my sister had same issues on Vodafone couple yrs ago and I found Facebook was the problem, I set it to only auto play on wifi, no issues since
