Quarter standard topiary

I’ve just recently discovered quarter standard topiary, but I haven’t researched much about it yet.

I’m looking to mimic/ replace the structure of allium purple sensation/globe master for an extended seasonal effect. (Going by last year’s flop with alliums I’m going to have to treat them like annuals me thinks!)

I think the topiary might be a good solution with a longer season of interest. Has anyone any experience with quarter standards? What height do they reach? Any suggestions of what varieties to go for?
