Connecting flights two seperate tickets with EI and staying airside

Does anyone have any experience of using the connecting flight facility at Dublin Airport for two seperate Aer Lingus tickets?

I have a JFK - Dub flight at the moment and now need to get to LHR in a tight timeframe (2 hour between flights).

I know I technically am not supposed to use the connecting flights facility, but if both boarding passes are with Aer Lingus will anyone notice? Does the backage checked on both tickets need to be the same and will JFK put baggage through?

If they didn't put it through it would be fine as my husband could collect (he's staying in Dub), but essentially would anyone notice if you stayed airside with two seperate Aer Lingus board passes?

Back to back tickets they should check through the luggage and even issue the LHR boarding card in JFK

The rules in Dublin are basically to stop people connecting to/from Ryanair if connecting Aer Lingus to Aer Lingus no one will ask any questions

If you have no baggage and are checked in, then there is no issue. You are there for a valid reason.

Your baggage can be checked through, but you will need to tell them in your initial departure airport, as otherwise they won't know.

There wouldn't be an issue even if Ryanair, once you have a legitimate right to be airside it would not be a problem at all.

You will be turned back from Connections with a Ryanair boarding pass and sent back out via the baggage hall. The DAA levy a fee for the service and of course Ryanair didn't want to pay.

Nail on the head and thats for most point to point airlines like Vueling, Ryanair, Wizzair, Easyjet etc. You have to go through security again. Usually Code Share agreements allow for continious connection hassle free travel. I didnt know about the levy!

You won’t be allowed through on Ryanair. I’ve connected on separate tickets with EI before, but I think the airport are in the right to refuse you, as they are meant to be paid a fee for the connecting flights facility.

Most EU airports are Schengen so once inside of that you can easily self connect onto any of those flights. I frequently self connect in AMS CPH and BRU on Ryanair. But Irish /Uk airports are a pain in the arse to self connect through.

It's unlikely that your bags will be tagged through. As far as check in in JFK is concerned, you are travelling to DUB final destination.

There was a time when bags were tagged through on separate tickets but for the reasons mentioned above, those days are gone.

Historically Aer Lingus policy specifically allows this. So one EI to another EI flight, provided both tickets had checked baggage paid/included already and that there is enough time between the flights.
