Cancelled furniture order due to delay and company not returning money to my card

I bought a bookcase from a fairly large furniture store. I bought it online, and only bought it because the company said it had it in stock. However, got a text shortly after I purchased it - a day later - to say that the item wasn't in stock. I rang them, and said I wouldn't have ordered it if the item wasn't in stock. They said it would take 2/3 weeks to arrive. I rang in 3 weeks. They said the item was no longer in stock in their supplier, and they didn't know hen it would arrive. When I went to cancel the order, they said they would have it in 3 weeks. I didn't know what to believe, felt I was being given the run around, and cancelled the order. They said they would refund me the money within 3-5 days on to my credit card, but have not done so. I have initiated the chargeback procedure. There is correspondence from them saying the order was cancelled and they would refund me. Is there anything else I can do - the sum of money is 515 euros? It's been 11 days since I asked for the refund.

well you have given up on the company and started chargeback. correct action in mu opinion.

what do you think can be done now? your not going to get 2 refunds. so the chargeback procedure is underway. Its now out of the hands of the company. You've gone over their heads and its with your bank now.

But you cant hurry the chargeback procedure - which i assume is your aim. your wait for delivery & being messed about doesn't come into it, except as justification for the chargeback.

It is possible you might have received refund quicker if you didn't chargeback, but then they could have kept treating you like a fool longer. And their paperwork is now going to be greater, and the costs to their business increased. So thats not a bad result.

You should have given them notice that you were going to initiate chargeback if refund was not received within 5 days. That usually does the trick.
