The international rugby community has shown its support and solidarity after a former captain of Ukraine’s national team was killed in battle.
Oleksi Tsibko, 55, died fighting Russian forces near the town of Bucha on March 31, but news of his death has only been confirmed this week.
The sportsman, who became president of the Ukrainian Rugby Federation between 2003-2005, went on to serve as mayor of Smela from 2015-2018. A farewell ceremony in his honour is due to take place at Kyiv’s Baykove cemetery today.
God bless him. Fuckin Putin, gobshite
Makes all the sh*te we talk about rugby completely trivial in the grand scheme of things, doesn't it?
It also makes us look like gobshites running around with hankies looking for war. If we were invaded we’d know all about it!
I have no idea what this means. Non.
RIP to Oleksi Tsibko.
