    Hi all,

Anyone familiar with Kilcoole ? Have been totally priced out of Dublin and looking for somewhere near the sea, village feel and despite having to commute to Dublin seems it may be an up and coming area? Comments appreciated 😀

Kilcoole is cheaper that Greystones, but that is not saying much! It is still very expensive. There is very little for sale in Kilcoole at the moment.

    Pros:

    1) Train station at the beach. From here you can catch the Wexford train and get into Dublin

    2) Quite village feel

    3) Close to Greystones (around 2 or 3 km) which has everyhting.

    4) Not as high density as Greystones, Charlesland or Delgany.

    5) Near the beach

    6) Easy accesss to N11

    7) Very nice friendly people

    8) surronded by beautiful countryside

    Cons:

    1) Commute time to Dublin. Pick your times to commute carefully!

    2) Very little in Kilcoole in terms of shops / amenities. The best shop is Centra.

    3) The main street looks terrible

My wife works in kilcoole and daughter goes to the primary school there, don't live there in rathnew but have to say I really like it. The centra has an impressive deli. There is a small tesco in the town too.

Can't comment on what it's like to live there to be fair but there daily and nice spot, often thought about moving there if not for the obvious housing crisis 😂

I have been living in Kilcoole for over a decade having moved from Greystones. I am very happy here and would be reluctant to move.

It looks like there will be a lot of development in Kilcoole over the next few years as space runs out in Greystones, Delgany and Chalesland.

We've lived in Kilcoole 7 years and had children in the schools here for 10 years. No complaints and it is much quieter than Greystones or Bray, lots of rural walks from the village, beach walks in both directions. Prices are going up here too but still much more reasonable than Greystones. Aldi and Lidl are nearby and if you like cafes Greystones is plagued with them. At the end of the day you have to be able to afford your home and for most of us there is no point trying to squeeze into an impossible mortgage in the city when we enjoy the countryside more and now work at home more often.
