Non-irish spa hotel options

I'd be interested in hearing suggestions of a non-irish luxury spa hotel abroad. The catch would be I'd be travelling in November - so those outdoor pools probably not much good then.

I had been hoping of doing a couple (2 or 3) of nights in the likes of Monart or The Europe, but they appear to be sold out.....

I then had the idea that maybe somewhere like Lisbon, Barcelona or somewhere like that might be a option....

Hard to know what your likes are - is it luxury or do you want a more punitive health spa regime (fasting for a week say).

alternatively combine a city break in a new city in Germany/Austria/Switzerland and do day spas.

FYI - many of the spas are heated thermal pools so not an issue in winter.

What are you looking for at the spa?

• health/nutrition
• saunas/steam rooms/aufgas?
• massages/facials and the like?
• peace and quiet with options for spa during the day?

Thanks for the reply. It would be less the health aspects of things and more relaxation and nice food in a modern setting (ideally). By that I mean, not a place with oldy worldy sense of style.

I'll take a look at the guardian article and try TripAdvisor.

There have been a few I was eyeing up in Austria that may fit that bill. Know exactly what you mean. Luxury non stuffy chill time.

The Fortina in Malta (the 5 star side not 4 star) sounds like it would fir the bill for you. we were there a good few years ago so maybe its changed since, but we had a 'spa room' with our own rooftop pool and jucuzzi and all, it was amazing. It was also all inclusive, fab time
