Acidic to Alkaline soil mix for shrubs

What works best to reduce acidity of soil in order to add some plants and shrubs which favor alkaline soil types . Do the soil mix have to be put in a very large area for the plants . I measure the Ph level of my soil to be between mostly between 5.5 to 6 and in particular interested to know if planting alkaline soil…

I measure the Ph level of my soil to be between mostly between 5.5 to 6 and in particular interested to know if planting alkaline soil shrubs like Daphne Mezereum would have be successful by adding soil mix or bone meal mix ?
