question about Turkcell in Turkey 3 Customer

Hey All i was in Turkey last August and for some reason i could not make phone calls , text or use whatsapp , bizarrely my gmail worked , i will be flying again to Turkey This September and was wondering if i have to buy an addon with Three Ireland? and do i have to turn on roaming on my phone ?
