Blisters and skinned heels

Last week I walked a lot but came home to blisters and a badly skinned heel. I was wearing walking boots. Yesterday I went out with dressings on and wearing Skechers but came home with the other heel all bloody. Granted it's a long walk but it shouldn't be like this. It's frustrating.

What's the best form of footwear to wear? I thought Skechers was supposed to be good but I was wrong. Are Compeed plasters any good?
