I was very sad to read this morning that popular Rugby Youtuber Gareth Mason has passed away. He was one of the most popular rugby Youtubers and was a great motivation to many. Seemed to be a great guy and had a massive passion for the game, his videos were really good. Was literally on his channel yesterday, very sad news.

    Oh no,

Yeah watched a fair few of his videos a couple years back. A really nice passionate person who loved all things rugby. I'm sad to hear that, may he rest in peace.

That's very sad, I used to watch his channel the odd time. He seemed to be in a tough place the last year or so. RIP.

That is incomprehensibly sad and tragic.

I am hurting quite badly from this news. All so senseless.

Hope you find more peace in the next place G, thanks for your contribution to so many people's enjoyment of our game.

I found out via a facebook group I'm in. Apparently his sister announced it on her page. If you click on his lot of his mates leaving messages. I've not seen anything official about it but seems to be teh case unfortunately.

He was a Rugby Youtuber, not as big as squidge, but had a pretty decent following. Was also on the radio and commentated on cricket I believe.

Really sad, the youtube algorithm just recommended a video to me of him trying to open a beer bottle with a knife just earlier today....

He was always one of the most prominent South African youtubers and a great source for a perspective down there. RIP.

A couple of his videos of late were very personal and to be honest, I felt like it was an invasion of privacy and didn't watch beyond a few minutes.

I watched his final video in full there last night. It's jarring to see the change in him over the last year or so and you could see the anguish etched into his face and mannerisms. His last year of content is a tapestry of a persons decent into depression interspersed with live streams and match reviews where he genuinely seemed a bit more himself.

I think for a lot of people the loss and isolation of covid has taken a pretty big toll and no doubt there are many others going through the same.

Yeah his last few videos were very hard to watch. He seemed to have a run of very bad luck and was struggling. I just wish he'd gotten the help he needed in time. His outlook and general positivity were amazing up until the last year or so. Just very sad.

This is dreadful. I liked this man very much. I hadn’t tuned in to his channel in about a year. Always seemed really kind and a generous spirit and of course a fellow lover of the oval game. RIP man
