Used BMW F01 as next car? Any advice?

So I've started to narrow my options for my next car. I have a Brera at the moment but I'd think I'd like an F01 7-series. I went to see one earlier and I was really impressed by the cabin and feel of it. I'd likely be looking for a 730d. Just wondering what advice people would have when looking at one of these? Are maintenance costs outrageous or would they be similar enough to a F10?

While it's one thing liking the idea of one as my next car - if I thought I'd be buying a money pit I'd quickly move off the idea!

    Thanks for any advice

F01 and F10 not miles apart in terms of components with a lsome shared parts. F01 comes with VDC which was a rare option on the F10, but gets very spendy when troublesome. Disks and pads also expensive, as per f10. Both are average on reliability, but prepare for big bills if anything goes wrong. Electric mayhem can be traced to a dying battery. Transmission leaks also not uncommon. Like any ageing BMW expect oil leaks and overhauling cooling system with age.

FSH essential and get any car independent checked first.

Lovely car but not for the feint of heart or light of wallet.

thanks Stallingrad. I've been thinking about it since and it is a nice car but as you say, you would really want to put a few quid aside for expensive repairs because they are inevitable like you say. Thanks for the advice!
