141 Civic start / stop

    I’ve a 141 petrol civic, 70k on the clock

last few days the start / stop indicator illuminates when starting, in the past if it came on, I’d just turn it off, after a bit of a spin it would work away normally, now it’s on every time I start so I have to turn it off.

Is the start stop battery a separate battery or just a different type of battery for cars with this function?

Is the car battery on the way out?

Is this an issue for the NCT & OBD reader?

    Thanks

Typically start/stop stops working if the car battery condition is garbage. If still original battery, no surprise.

Generally a sign that your battery is on the way out.

Could be an NCT issue, but will be a bigger issue for you when you go out and it wont start on Monday morning.

Why Monday? Why not on Sunday morning? And why morning? Why not on evening? Sunday evening middle of forest, no start. Oops, here is no forest anywhere... 3 trees is not a forest, no horror stories

Funnily enough bumped into my mechanic this morning, discussed the issue, told me to call in & they’d scan for faults, since the chat despite numerous stop / starts, issue hasn’t reoccurred

If you have got 7 years from that battery then not bad really with stop/start and smart alternator charging.
