    If you have a family member who has been arrested before and served time in prison does that prevent you from being able to apply for An Garda Siochana

    Not necessarily. Could possible depend on what the offence was and how severe it was (subversive membership etc… will be the things that hinder an application). However, it shouldn’t affect you. Just be honest about when required to and don’t try to hide any details.

    No it doesnt. But don't try to hide it, be upfront and honest as to your relationship with that person and exactly what they were convicted of.
