    Hi all,

Looking for a recommendation for an architect or engineer to put together a residential planning application for a one off house in County Galway.

    Thanks in advance!

Look at the council’s planning map for the area and find similar projects that have been done recently. Or if you’ve seen new houses you like, look those up there. You’ll get the architect’s name from the planning applications. Otherwise RIAI has a list of architects by county and what they specialise in (domestic, commercial etc). Take a look at their websites/social media to see if you like their style.

I wouldn’t get an engineer to do the plans. Architects are specialists in design. They know how to build houses that maximise light and views, have good flow, look good, feel nice to be in etc. Engineers can build safe, functional houses but they’re not trained in design.
