Hi All, silly question. I haven't cut the grass as yet & wondering should I apply Lawn Gold before or after 1st cut. Lawn is very mossy/weedy. If I should apply if before the 1st cut, how long should I leave it before cutting. Thanks in advance

As far as I know Lawn Gold needs higher temperature than we have at present. Also while it kills moss I'm not sure it kills weeds. Check the pack for instructions. I used it in Spring and Autumn last year and found it good.

Use it three days after a cut. Don't cut again for three or four days (assuming it has been watered in).

Applied lawn gold (a little more generously than planned) and did an excellent job of turning moss black. I'm guessing this shouldn't have happened. Will I have to rake or will moss eventually disintegrate. Foolish novious here...

I'd suggest rake it off, it will improve drainage and take away any mat of debris that could encourage the moss to return. Then scatter some seed to fill in the patches.

I thought the whole point with Lawn Gold was that the dead moss breaks down naturally and doesn't need raking.

I stand corrected on the lawn gold, but surely new seed would have a better chance on a somewhat refreshed surface?

Would be to early to apply mo bacter since temperatures are currently above 12c was thinking now good time?

Picked up some Lawn Gold after local garden centre recommended to help with a lot of moss on the soil.

It’s granules, any idea will it stain patio if granules get on slabs & it rains? Tried something similar previously and it had some sort of fertilizer ingredient in it and it stained slabs.

    Thanks

Yes, it will stain the footpaths and patio. It happened me a few years ago. I use a leaf blower immediately after spreading the fertilizer.

I do stain the path with iron sulphate mix but it's not permanent

A few years of rain and it's gone
