Replacement bulbs in garage

Hi folks,

I have 2 tube lights in the garage that had the Philips TLD fluorescent bulbs in them.

I went to replace these and the electrical wholesalers gave me Philips TL8 bulbs, which I know are LED.

My housing doesn’t have started, but an electrical ballast. I changes the tubes and still in the dark. I’m trying to work out if it’s a wiring issue or maybe incorrect tubes.

please help. I really don’t want to have to call an electrician to change out 4 tubes :)

The below works with a metal ballast and starter type fitting as you see from pic

So those below wouldn't work with yours anyhow if I read you correctly

Ignore top picture, it's probably the bottom type that works with yours if i read you correctly

I think it's the bottom type there the instantfit-hf-t5 works with electronic ballast type fitting with no starter.

Wholesaler should be able to give you correct led lamp if he knows existing lamp and ballast type, they'd be the experts here

Correction that could be what you have

So that would be a direct replacement for T8 with electronic ballast

Other ones I posted above are replacement for T8 with magnetic ballast and starter

And T5 with electronic ballast

They would be your 3 main types of fluorescent batten and Philips seem to have a comprehensive range there

Really appreciate all the info. Thanks a million. Just checked what I bought and its the Philips T8 alright but EM/Mains - ones you mentioned above. So those wouldnt work with the Electronic Ballast?

What fitting have you got , have you got T8 with electronic ballast and no starter

Philips seem to have the full range there for retrofit

Wouldn't be my thing I would replace fittings

So at the minute I have the T8 with electric ballast and no starter. Electrical wholesaler was brilliant so I might even give them a call. Tubes came with the starter with them which is why Im a little concerned that they might be needed :)

Sounds like you got the wrong one so think they're for the T8 magnetic ballast+starter type fitting( linked at top)

Probably the T8 master (HF) in the last link that you need

Btw : When you say electric ballast i'm assuming you mean electronic not steel magnetic type
