Timing Belt interval 1.6tdi Seat Leon

I have a 2014 Seat Leon 1.6tdi (114,000km) in for a service and the garage is telling me the timing belt is overdue and should be done. Car has been serviced in Seat main dealer until now. I asked them about the timing belt on the last service (2021) and they told me 210,000km, but didn't specify any age limit, so I assumed it was all good. I've had a look in the maintenance manual and it does say 210,000km with no reference to age. If it needs to be done grand, but I want to be sure it actually needs it before I drop the cash. Anyone with the same engine/car have theirs done before 210,000?

210k is correct, no recommended time interval.

We always recommend doing them after 5 years anyway. Cheaper than an engine!

They got rid of the old 5 years time recommendation.

My opinion is your car is 8 years old,

Id get it done for peace of mind

210k no age limit is the official line.

They are usually fine for it too, once bo unusual noises or coolant leaks.

Anyone going in at less than that is doing it to sell belt jobs. I wouldn't be too pushed but at the same time you are buying peace of mind.

OH has one and with similar mileage to yours but younger circa 5 years old. Had decided not to bother until 200km and then water pump started failing so ended up having to do it then in a hurry, and having read up its the pump that appears to fail first. I think Id get it done on an 8 year old
