Changing cones and wires on a garage door, running into problems

    Hi all,

I have a pull up garage door from the early 90s that wires broke on, I bought replacements for them and tried to do the install today. And it's not working

I got the cones and wire replaced , but noticed when changing the right one that the bar itself (that the cones attached to) has tension pushing it out to the right. The only thing that seems to be stopping it is the left cones pin. So the left cone is up against the bracket while the right cone is a cm or 2 off.

I've tried tensioning the spring , and there is plenty of tension on it, but the door is not lifting up.

One thing I know for sure isn't working right is the cone on the right is not winding right because it's not in the right position it's skipping down the cone and the winding sometimes pops off the cone.

I don't really know anything about these doors other than looking up what to buy and how to do it, and I've never seen anyone have the issue of the bar moving.

When the spring tensioning bracket grubs are loosened, should it be able to move along the bar? I assumed it would but mine doesn't at the moment anyways, even when fully detensioned, maybe it needs some persuasion...

    Any suggestions what to try?

Door is like this one if it helps
