Fitbit Ionic Recall - Fitbit or Amazon?

My Fitbit stopped working last year due to it not actually being waterproof as advertised - I went swimming it started buzzing and overheating - took it off and never followed up. Contacted Amazon the other day to ask for a refund - surprised given time since purchase that they readily agreed - today Fitbit have announced a recall of all Ionics - so I'm wondering would I be better off returning to Amazon or Fitibit - Fitbit talking about a discount for future purchases whereas Amazon is just a straight refund.

Have heard reasonable reports of Amazon refunds I'm tempted to go with them as probably easier but missing out on a discount for future Fitbits is a potential stumbling block.

    Thoughts?

If you are happy with a straight refund then def go with Amazon, I know I would

I processed the retrun with fitbit yesterday. The refund will take 3 to 6 weeks, which isn't ideal.

However, they are giving a significant discount and offer:

Thanks for verifying your eligibility for your discount. To keep you as part of the Fitbit family, we’re offering you the following:

    • 40% off up to 5 Fitbit devices–that’s 1 for you and 1 for up to 4 friends! Check the store to see which devices are available for purchase.
    • Up to 5 free accessory bands–1 for each device you order
    • 1 Fitbit Premium subscription for a full year (new members only)
    • Free expedited shipping (where available)

I purchased a new Fitbit Sense and 5 bands (RRP: €475) for €120 yesterday
