Used car advice

We are planning to get a family car for the first time and we are a bit lost about what to get. Budget is 10-15K.

The main requirement is that it needs to have a decent boot. A rear parking camera would be nice, but we could live without.

The car will be used for the odd trip around town during the week, then a bit more during the weekends, day trip distance mainly with a longer trip every few months.

Any advice? From what I read here, we should go for petrol? What size engine would be reasonable? We'd like something powerful enough to be able to overtake cars without the car struggling.

    We need more info.

What's your mileage per year roughly? Do you want a saloon or estate or jeep?

Do you prefer hybrid, petrol or diesel?

Any cars you like the look of so people can recommend it or something else within the same category?

Mileage would probably be <20k per year. Open about the type of car, slight preference for a hatchback.

No access to charging, so I don't think a hybrid is an option. Between petrol and diesel, from what I read we should go for diesel as we won't be doing long distance?

We don't care about the look of the car to be honest.
