Club Milk or Purple Snack

The burning question of our times.

I sat down to a nice strong cup of tea (Barry's Master Blend - Black Box), and went to pick out a bar to accompany it from the old USA biscuit tin we use. I opened it to find both Cadbury's Purple Snack and a Jacobs Club Milk in there.

    Big decision.

I went for the Club Milk. I don't regret my decision.

    Thoughts??

I think the Club chocolate is marginally nicer, I haven’t had a small Snack bar in a while but I remember how disappointing it was compared to the old days.

Purple Snack, definitely. Club Milk is a workhouse bar.

You should have ate both of them, and then you would have an accurate view as to which is the best.

Club Milk was always the Purple Snack substitute.

In the pub with my father as a youngfella - "They've no purple snacks, will a club milk do?

    "Yeah."

The only shop I have seen purple snack bars is in Tesco Cookstown Co.Tyrone. You don't get them in any other Tesco's. Maybe that Tesco is managed by a Catholic who is more aware of southern goods. They cost £2 for 6 bars.

Went off Club Milk in the 70's when I collected enough wrappers to go into a draw for a Raleigh Chopper and prayed and prayed for weeks to win and never heard a word back!! I was never so gutted..... I'm talking about a RALEIGH CHOPPER!!!!!!!!! Equivalent to winning a Lamborghini in todays money!

Purple Snack wins by a country mile. The Club Milk was the pre-Celtic Tiger option.

You're lucky they didn't phone you and tell you'd won a competition to try to win the Raleigh chopper

FINALLY Boards dealing with the real issues.

Obviously a purple snack is your man.

Purple snack. This isn't an answer to a question, it's a statement of fact.

Not living in a Cadbury's-rich country and a few years ago a shop local to me temporarily had purple snacks. I say temporarily, because as soon as they came in I emptied the shelves (every time they came in) 🤗. Wish it would happen again...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭The Mighty Quinn

Agreed. Tried adding a poll and couldn't work out how in the new boards...

Purple snack. It’s the reason I donate blood.

haven’t had them there in a while :(

also a 6pack from the shop should be classed as a single serving

    Purple snack 👍

Always buy a pack when I’m in Dealz

irrespective of which one you picked (purple snack obvs) you do eat them by biting the chocolate off the edges until you are just left with the biscuit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,815 ✭✭✭satguy

Not the Snack, or the Club Milk,, for me its was the Cadbury's Yellow Snack,, 6 square chocolate covered biscuits in 2 rows of 3..

    See it here

Swimming against the tide here, but I'd go for Club Milk.

Both bars are a shadow of their former selves. But the bag of broken purple snacks from Cadburys factory shop in Coolock were a thing of beauty in the 80s.

club milk has returned to its former self it was very slim on chocolate a few years back😐️ esp in the multipacks

Club Milk but for very nostalgic reasons.

Just logged in to say that I won that Raleigh Chopper.

The sexy one in metallic purple with gold flecks.

Been chasing the thrill ever since.

Anyone remember the thread about the the swiss rolls going to sh*t? The same happened the club milk 35 years ago.

The purple snack is the only thing we have left....

Occasionally you’ll get a purple snack with no biscuit inside. That rarely happens with a club in my experience. The snack packaging has been substantially downgraded also. I liked the sleeve and the foil. Always my favourite was the pink snack though, which they took off the market.

The Amazon river runs for thousands of miles. At some points it runs through areas of the rain forest that are almost untouched and have been barely explored. Because of the porous limestone in these areas, the river water leaks through the stone and travels deep into the earth, and forms underground pools almost a mile below the surface. Over thousands of years, small blind transparent fish have lived and evolved in these pools. These fish have never seen the sun or surface and have never been seen by the human. These fish care more about this discussion than I do. Purple snack all the way though

Aldi does a half decent own brand version 6pack. Not as good as the Purple snack, but much better than the Club Milk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭brokenbad

    Club Milk 100%

OP - You should have created a poll for this one

Man near me used to work in rowntree factory, Dublin. Sometimes they made a batch of Aero bars with oversized bubbles, was only for staff and families.

Club Milk is nicer. The Purple Snack is not up to scratch.

    Purple Snack.

******would it not be easier to just have a poll.........rather than wade through pages replies ?? boring stuff!*****

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,977 ✭✭✭Greyfox

Na, creme egg doesn't even get into the all time chocolate top 30, purple snack tastes out of this world and is in the top 3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 933 ✭✭✭Get Real

I'd have said purple snack all day. But having not had one in a few years, had one recently. It was nowhere near what I remember.

I don't know if thats my tatstebuds changing or the chocolate used.

But it didn't seem as creamy or "melty" in the mouth.
