Hi Everyone. First and foremost thank you for reading

    Background

    • I am married with a daughter.
    • We have just bought a 800k house with my wife (80% of significant deposit paid by me)
    • We both earn high salaries
    • I am married three years and the relationship is capable of being very sour with items that therapy will never resolve for me.
    • I have *no idea* what happens generally if I want to end the marriage.
    • I appreciate it can vary but surely there must be even some degree / semblance of repetition or pattern and those with experience may see it and could possibly advise

    Questions

    a) I appreciate the answers to this can vary but what generally happens in the following situation. Assuming worst case scenario it went to court ....what will happen with the house?

    b) If the house was left with her for next 23 years would I be expected to pay the mortgage on it too?

    c) Is there any dispensation given to the sheer cost of the house being massive? i.e. this is not a 100k house it's 800k which is suffocating for anyone who has to leave and pay two mortgages

    c) If a judge said we could sell how are proceeds split generally?

    d) Roughly what % of cases go to court and what % mediation

    e) Maintenance costs what are indicative estimate ranges of these (3k per month or 100 euro haven't a clue)

    f) How long do we need to be separated before a divorce and do I have to live out?
