    The civilian deaths, plus deaths of young soldiers or militiamen is so saddening. Putin had veto power over Ukraine with the Minsk accord like his Lugansk and Donetsk 'Republics.' A potentially horrifying fire at a nuclear plant threatened some days ago.

    Greek Rite Catholics are a notable minority and the Russian Orthodox (and others like in Romania) has a long and ignoble record of taking churches or just holding on to ones given to them by Communist authorities, and worse. Patriarch Kirill, one time KGB CI Michailov, he lover of fine watches and wearer of some 50 tiaras worth between 4000 and 27000 dollars also has a grudge over the creation of a Ukrainian Orthodox patriarchate with a tomos from Constantinople. Now that new jurisdiction has two claimants, but's a slight matter against the present tragedy. Kirill will want to squash those Orthodox Ukrainians who departed his jurisdiction.
