Hi I am just wondering is the HDR Q box available if I ring sky and ask for it? what Costs are involved?

I have a sky q box for several years and watch sports on ultra HD and would like to get HDR to get most out of my viewing experience.

Has anyone upgraded to the HDR box? Your opinions?

OP think about what sport you want first. My understanding is that it’s mainly, if not exclusively, the Premier League that is being filmed in HDR. Eurosport may have had the last summer Olympics in it too.

As with 4K itself, don’t expect every sport to have it. If your interest is rugby, GAA, etc expect to be disappointed.

I went the other way and dropped 4K from my sub as part of a retention deal. I don’t miss it.

Luckily my sport of choice is the soccer so I am lucky in that regard.

Am I right in saying that HDR is free and it's just the new box I have to order with sky?

You need to pay for Ultra HD at the applicable rate. On the current pricing for new customers it’s €14pm for Ultra HD and HD. Might be different for existing customers.

Just thought I'd update you that got the HDR set up and it for sure pops much more especially the colours.

I keep annoying everyone else in the house by switching back to SD then back to Ultra HD HDR during matches just to see the huge difference.

You should try going from SD to HD same effect, then to ultra hd and try and see the difference, its tiny.

I agree HD to ultra HD is slight but if you have HDR it really makes the colours pop
