Should I trade in my 2021 Gas Vehicle for a 2022 Unleaded?

I'm Irish, UK based but unfortunately there's nothing like boards where I can direct my question and wondering if anyone can help as it's really bugging me what to do.

I currently own a 2021 Dacia Sandero Stepway Bi Fuel (LPG & Unleaded) with 5.5k miles on the clock and in pristine condition.

After being mis-sold the car, the garage offered to trade it for 2022 Automatic Model (unleaded only) and I am required to pay the difference of £800. This price difference reflects lasts years difference as of now, the current difference between the models is £1500.

The car is due to arrive in March for me to collect however I have ordered an electric which is due in May so I will not be needing this car from then.

My question is, do I sell the 2021 model and not pay the extra £800?

    OR

Pay the extra £800 and pick up the 2022 model?

If it's the latter, would I be best off selling the vehicle straight away and renting another car for the two months?

Do you think with raising fuel costs that the LPG may be a more attractive sell to a second hand market?

    Thanks in Advance.

I would sell the 2021 model and mot pay the extra 800 for the 2022 car. Even if you did pick up the 2022 car you are going to lose more than 800 as soon as you drive out off the forecourt and when you go to trade or sell it on.

I would just say sell your current car and buy an old banger untill you get your new electric car. You can do that over there. Be crazy to rent something for two or 3 months it would be money down the drain and cost a lot more. Get some old car you always wanted or wished you had bought years ago and then maybe as it will have cost you feck all to buy you can use it for weekend drives or if its really old for going to classic car shows.

I'd say try sell the 2021 car and then pick up the electric car. Mad to be buying a petrol car now a days.

How were you mis sold the Sandero Stepway?

Everyone I know who has recently got an electric has had delays for 6+ weeks, so I'm afraid that will happen to me. Need a car where I live and renting may turn out costly as is the 2nd hand car market.

I knew nothing about LPG and was a little apprehensive about refuelling. The salesman assured me there was loads of locations to refuel showed me a list of all the places I could do it around my area. Turns out none of them existed and the map had not been updated in 4 years.

I have the same engine as you but in the Sandero non stepway and there are no LPG stations in Mayo where I live but there are stations in Roscommon town and then closer to Athone and then two in Galway. Oranmore and then near Galway airport. But I knew there was none in Mayo and the sale man told me that too. You can put petrol in as well don't you know.

Also regarding the 2022 car is that a Dacia too? If it is the automatic is a CVT and slower than a manual.

I would sell the Stepway if your not happy with it and then just buy a cheap runabout with a long MOT to tie you over until you can get the electric car. But as you said there are long wait times due to pandemic and shortages and then now with the things going on in Ukraine.

Surely the 2022 model with zero miles to sell private is worth more than £800 above the 2021 model with 5.5k, hence making it better to swap for the 2022 and sell private?

Assuming it’s the new model then I’d be thinking the same.

Id spend less again on a manual one though, but none of this adds up either way.
