I will be fairly desperate to get a charge here on Friday as I head North. I have the Easygo and ESB charge cards/apps. It tells me there are only the 2 chargers (Type2 and CCS). Is that correct as I thought there may be more? Am I likely to get an available charger or is a long wait likely? Alternatively any fast chargers between here and Belfast that I should look out for please?! Many thanks

There is an ESB Ecars rapid charger in Dundalk. Public Car Park Rampart Lane is the address.

The Castlebellingham charger is hit and miss, it’s worked every time I’ve used it but busy on my last two occasions. Only one Esb 50kw charger.

Consider using your easy go to start the IONITY charger at junction 7 City North hotel. It may be more expensive but I’d gladly pay €2 a kwh if it meant the charger was available, worked and didn’t have an abandoned leaf on it.

They are 60km apart but it may give you enough to get by. It helps if you have €20 already on your easy go account with IONITY, sometimes with less it won’t start the charger.

Thanks both, I should do have said I’m coming from Dublin so City North a bit close. Dundalk may work. My range is about it 300km in a 52kW ID4

Working off Dublin city centre to Belfast city centre your at 166km-

Its 94km back to Applegreen CB southbound- that’s 260km

You could allow yourself time on the way up to stop CB northbound, if it’s free your in business, you’ve allowed for a stop there so if the ccs is in use the ac43 and get something in at 11kw’s.

If you take it handy you will make it back to the CB south bound services without stopping on the way up (do try and add something to the battery on the way up) or check the app and see if Dundalk is free when passing for home, it’s just more time coming off the motorway.

The wind at the moment won’t make it easy, Friday could be better. The 52kw doesn’t leave much to play with, slowing down to 100 and easy on the heat is painful but it does work. Pick up speed as you get closer to the safety of home ))

    There's also a 50kW in Drogheda, but again that's a bit close

As handpref said, try to charge at Castlbellingham northbound and if it's busy then consider going to Dundalk

There's definitely no chance of a destination charger? It might make life a lot easier

Was going to post that there's a 50kw charger at the Go/Centra petrol station just past Banbridge, but checked on plugshare and someone posted yesterday that it's not working.

There's also a 50kW unit at IKEA Belfast, it's a paid unit from Gridserve so might be less likely to be blocked

A guest house in Bangor is my destination, I’ll be there for the evening and back earlyish next day. Seems to be about 4 dotted around there but seem to be quite busy. Thank you all so far for the suggestions, most appreciated.

How much of a detour is it to visit the ab charger when travelling north or vice.versa?
