Stop mice coming up waste pipe?

We have an outlet for our heatpump overflow that is prime for some little visitors. What is the handiest way to block the entrance but allow water out if it was ever needed?

If it was me, I'd also be filling around the pipe with silicone sealer

Totally agree, I had an issue last year and when I sealed around the pipe outlet is cured the problem. Going by your pic they would have no issue slipping between the gap between wall and pipe.

I'd fill around that and put some garden netting around the pipe

Thanks for all the advice. I found a white hair trap in a local shop and cut it down to 1.75" size and glued it on pipe base (see below) and siliconed up the hole too :-)
