CGT without receipts

    Hi

Lets say you were filing a CGT return on the sale of a property but have misplaced the receipt for the original solicitor’s fees when buying the house, but are sure on the amount paid. Is it still ok to count these fees as an allowable asset when filing?

I am sure a revenue auditor would not find the amount unreasonable. I don’t want to contact the solicitor for a receipt as we aren’t on speaking terms for non related reasons.

    Cheers
