Hi Just looking for some advice. My wife works in HSE and about 6 months ago applied for a 4 day week. She has been told her case is being examined but due to pressure of work they are unable to accommodate her at present. Is she entitled to a 4 day week or what options does she have. She is within 2 years of retirement.

In general labour law, she's not *entitled* to reduced hours, but it is good practice for an employer to facilitate.

If she had a disability she may have more rights to a reasonable accommodation.
But before all else, see if the union can suggest way to make the request so it is accepted.
