    All,

I purchased a citizen Eco-Drive about 2 and a bit years ago… three weeks ago while removing boxes of books from my room I banged / clipped the watch off the metal door lock receiver causing the damage in the photo to the bezel, nothing too severe and the watch worked fine for a week but as of last Tuesday week gone, dead. I’ve left it all day exposed to light to try charge, at my window for 3 days in fact but nada, no power…none of the hands or subdials will move even if i press the pushers, nada…zip

Not a great pic but you can see the impact mark at the top..

all depends on what’s wrong but is this likely to be economical to repair…?

    any advice welcome….

    Hi,

did you buy a new one? Could be battery... Not very expensive.

yes, the watch was bought new. I’m reading they have a secondary battery that should last 10 years or so…

I’ll probably just have it looked at anyway as I like that watch…thanks.

The solar panel on the dial, charges up a capacitor that powers the watch. This is designed to last the lifetime of the watch.

I'd say you have damaged/broken the connection somehow. You could try some of the Citizen agents in town for an estimate.

Pop it in the post and send it to Citizen Ireland at:

    Solatrex International Ltd. t/a CALCUL

    Bay 20 Free Zone West,

    Shannon,

    Co. Clare,

    V14 FH75

I dealt with them recently with an older watch and they were friendly, reasonable and good to deal with.

I left the watch (after trying to charge it previously) on the window sill for about 4 days and looked at it yesterday and it seems to be 24 hour later back working fine, result.

    Ecodrive uses capacitors not battery?

Yes, from what I understand… been working flawlessly since it’s revival… not loosing a minute…
