Failed Broadband Installation

KN networks arrived today to install Eir Fibre and after about 20 minutes of looking down manholes, the installer tells me that the distribution point on his map is not there and he can't complete the installation. This is in a housing estate by the way, and he said that the 4 houses on the road are impacted. He seemed a little perplexed and started ringing folks and then headed off telling me to contact Eir next week. This is obviously a ridiculous situation but my parents had a similar problem when trying to get Fibre installed (and is still unresolved). In their case, the engineer sent 20 minutes looking around and discovered the DP and pole on his map didn't actually exist.

This seems pretty ridiculous and I'm wondering how widespread a problem this is. I've no idea how long this will take to be resolved, I assume I'll find out next week! I could always cancel as Siro says it's also available. Anyone experience a missing DP? What steps were taken to resolve this?

Sounds like that’ll be an absolute headache to get resolved. If I was in your position I’d just order Siro with Vodafone.

    +1.

Go for SIRO. Lifes too short.

Rang Open Eir this morning and was transferred to Eir. Seems like it could take a month (maybe more/ maybe less) to get the work carried out. I'm currently with Virgin Media so am going to hang on. I figure I may want options further down the road to switch between Open Eir or Siro and don't want to have to go through the same stuff again to get a DP installed.

It's still a disgrace that the DP wasn't installed in the first place, what a waste of peoples time (Mine, Installer, Phone Support, Civils). Still cowboys it seems! When it does get resolved I'll post an update so when others find themselves in this situation they'll know what the process is.

I had a failed installation in late January with Eir. They advised FTTH could be installed to my home, sent KN out, KN advised ducts were too small and that Eir would install new ones. Three weeks later after hrs of phone calls Eir just cancelled my order and essentially told me to F off.

Got ComReg involved and Eir are advising me to lay new ducting myself. Are Eir making you shoulder any costs associated with putting the DP in?

Could someone advise what Siro is please?

Siro is the network that the ESB and VOdafone are building across Ireland using the existing ESB infrastructure - siro.ie

I'm not shouldering any costs. When they ran Fibre into my estate the contractors didn't install a distribution point where they were supposed to. My folks have also gone down the Comreg route and Eir are footing the bill to connect them to another DP including clearing ducts on public land. The ducting running to their house is fine.

Not sure how you get ducts that are to small...If they can run a copper cable, they can run fibre. Sounds like BS to me....

It happen me KN couldn't find were my copper cable came into my house. They couldn't install the FTTH and they went off and told me to lay new ducts.

I lay a new ducts KN came out and install my FTTH had to do the hard work but done it.
