If you apply for a copy of an inquest report is the familiy of the person made aware?

Highly unlikely. If you want plausible deniability, get someone else to ask for the report.

Note the that normal report (that's not the correct name) is exceptionally short and might not be what you are looking for.

The last time I requested such information I asked for copies of all of the depositions. Additionally, I asked for a copy of the post mortem report. Presumably the publically available documents would include the verdict.

The depositions consist of virtually all of the statements that Gardai will have taken. Rarely, you might get a deposition that is not in the Garda statements.

I know of no basis on which any such request is notified to next of kin.

The main findings of the post mortem would have been read out by the pathologist during the inquest. And the subject is dead, so why would there be an issue about confidentiality?

With the risk that they may end up on social media, the coroner would probably have an issue with releasing photos from the PM but that would be more about protecting the next of kin from additional distress rather than medical confidentiality.

I meant statements Gardai had taken.someone posted you may get them? Wouldn't they be confidential in case any one was ever charged?

I don't understand what you mean by: 'someone posted you may get them'. If the Gardai took a statement and the witness was called to give evidence at the inquest, it's hardly confidential.

If there were criminal proceedings pending the inquest would usually stand adjourned until the criminal litigation was completed. The relevant depositions would then become available when the inquest was completed.
