Hi, I want to get my car wrapped and found a great place. Just wondering about the legal costs to change the colour on the log book and how much is it?

Check the Motor Tax website here: Motor Tax Online

Not sure about the fee but you will have to fill in a form (RF111) and send it off to Shannon along with the VRC. A quick call to them will tell you if there is a fee or not (although it doesn't look like there is)

You need to fill in Form RF111 for a change of colour, no cost as far as I know. I am not sure though whether wrapping could be classed as a change of colour as the existing colour is underneath and can be peeled back to.

According to all the wrapping companies, the only thing you need to do if you're wrapping it is tell your insurance company (the do need to know, as certain designs could affect the premium). They claim that form RF111 is for permanent colour changes, which a wrap is not.

If in doubt, give the office in Shannon a ring or an email before you go declaring anything: https://www.gov.ie/en/organisation-information/acb13a-contact-us/
