This is great, I also had another €10 off on my account for some reason. Ended up getting FIFA 22 for €13. Tried it briefly on the Chromecast with Google TV and was surprisingly perfect.

    Thanks OP!

Excellent. Had a bunch of free credit I'd been accumulating on Google Play that needed spending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,645 ✭✭✭Del007

How did you get the free credit?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,144 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Get credit from Google Rewards surveys and converting Google Play points into credits, with some previous lucky timing of some Play purchases got quite a few points accumulated when there were extra points awarded on buying other Stadia games or just a couple of apps in Android Play store.

I tend to get a couple of surveys a week from Google Rewards and each of them would add between 5p and 10p. If I was going to more city center areas and shops it would give more surveys as they are based on where you have been going, but even with my limited social life and working from home I still accumulate a few.

A bargain alert taken from the Gaming thread for six months of Stadia PRO for €20.

If you visit Gamivo.com and search for Stadia offers they have one where you buy a code to redeem on Stadia site.

Code gives you six months of Stadia PRO for 20 quid - a saving of €40. Very easy to redeem the code once you get it.

Did it there myself and it worked perfectly. There are currently over 50 games on PRO so there has never been a better time to subscribe to the PRO tier.

Hat tip to Doodah7 for spotting.

looks like the 6 month Gamivo deal is gone....says out of stock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 136 ✭✭stephenmario

Am I missing something here? The 3 month one is 0.99? Can I buy 4 of these and use them for the year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭nedd

I just bought the Trail 3 month code, turns out I already use a trial code so can't apply it to my account. So be careful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,078 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

They are one off codes. Even the 6 months say it can only be used once.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,782 ✭✭✭Xterminator

the 6 months trial is out of stock. i used the 6 month pro key "Buy Google Stadia PRO 6 Months Official website CD Key

It cost 21.50 inc fees using mastercard, and does not say you can only use one, but it does say this key can only be used once - which i interpret as you can buy a new key in 6 months.

"This key can be used ONLY once per account."

Just so I'm clear, I got a 1 month free Trial for Stadia Pro last year at some stage.

I just bought the 3 month trial code from Gamivo, tried to apply it to my Stadia account and it says I have already used a trial code so I can't use this one.

Just setting up stadia for the first time and I've gone with the basic free trial of one month. When I go into the store to buy fifa it's coming up at full price of €69, has the deal run out or is there something special I need to do?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,078 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Think that was just a sale. They roll around pretty regularly. So hopefully not long until you can buy it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,786 ✭✭✭funnyname

Can games bought on Gamivo be played on the Stadia?

Rainbow six siege is free to play on stadia till the 24th of March. you don't even need a stadia account anymore to try it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,786 ✭✭✭funnyname

Any discount codes available for existing accounts, only ones I see are for trial accounts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭gerrykiddy

Google has announced plans to shut down its Stadia cloud gaming service and refund players.

Stadia was touted as a "Netflix for games" when it launched in November 2019, allowing players to stream games online without owning a console.

But the service will now come to an end on 18 January 2023 because of a lack of "traction" with gamers.

Google has promised refunds to players who purchased its Stadia controller, as well as any games or add-on content.

It said it estimates those refunds will be completed by mid-January.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭fergiesfolly

Is there any other services or console the controller is compatible with?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 215 ✭✭jvrk

Can use on phone or pc via usb cable.

That sucks, I found it perfect for playing FIFA and my son has asked for FIFA 23 for Christmas so will probably need to buy a PS5 or Xbox X now!!

Anyone who bought Stadia and sold it on will have a nice double bonus!

I bought one on adverts a few months ago - still shrink wrapped.

I suppose there will be no refund for the likes of us?

Why would they entertain something that was bought from the original purchaser?

Google is at it again - cancelling and withdrawing stuff. I've lost count of number of things I actually liked that they've pulled.

I paid very little for the stadia (it was a bargain alert here, <€20 if I recall) and I just use the Google Chromecast that came with it to cast Youtube onto my dumb LED tv. However they have restricted it lately I think - I can no longer sign into Youtube Premium account there, meaning I get sh1tty ads.

At least they are going to refund, which is very decent of them. Might spend that on a firestick.

its on smyths website too while being a little bit pricier

    What's the deal with refunds?

they can't be refunding everything bought for the last 4 years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,078 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

They are, every bit of hardware from the original founders edition. And games bought. Just not the subscription fee.

Surely it would be cheaper to just leave it on but stop supporting it.
