    Today's thread today!

I gots v little in line o picks.. starting thread lest folk think today is choose d, and sully tomorrow's thread - spent a lot of time studying for that so i did.

managed to find one however, and I can see Seb (if he's on t'show) liking it too... If Frederick is on, it's hard to see him look past jolly / whatever is jolly (possibly Axel Jacklin, but could be Barrington... both available at 5/2 atm)

5.30 Wolves Q TWENTY BOY 9/2 gen win

topweight in handicap, good enough draw in 5, went very close the last time he ran over C & D. If he breaks quick, he'll hopefully have Axel Jacklin (drawn in box 7) to chase at.. that's the thinking,, race may not pan out like that at all, but the selection has 'solid claims' and is a punter-friendly price.. will do me.

    GL : )

    6.00 Wolves

2 picks here in an open race, where Blue Artemis ~ 9/2 , and Diamond Jill ~ 9/2 also, aint screaming out to be backed.. Blue Artemis won over 1f+ shorter at Kempton 2 runs back, and she flopped at the same venue and trip lto... Diamond Jill is a C & D winner from lto, and might go close, but she'll likely be held up from stall 10, and will need luck in running. Very difficult to make a case for Fahey's Let Her Loose, and I don't know why she's a best priced 5/1 shot - whatever the reason is for her market position, I aint seeing it... Dark Esteem ~ 6/1 is another worth looking beyond imo.. a good third in an amateur race over C & D three runs back is average enough form, though she has also won and gone close before over 'the next trip down' , the extended mile, at the course.. those could be 'reasons to be cheerful' for supporters of Roger Teal's horse, but too much to take on trust for me...

    VOCATUS 8/1 spoils/Lads ew

Horse is in a decent run of form, with 2 second place finishes at the course in his last two runs; the latest of which was over C & D, and the one previous was over the extended mile.. Two poor 'Classified Stakes' races they were, but it's only a Class 6 Handicap.

THE BAY WARRIOR 12/1 Spoils/Lads ew

Has gone close before over the trip. Back down into a Class 6, and, being drawn low in stall 4, it'll hopefully stop him from going wide, which is something he's apt to do.. he might even lead, which should lessen the impact of him going wide and losing ground. Could be a double for trainer Mark Usher and jockey Jason Watson, if the 'Boy' Q Twenty obliges in the prevenient race.

Is it monday or tuesday? I saw tuesday thread there and got confused. PP has become very stingy with extra places in aw races, that's the case in Wolves tonight too.

One from my notebook 7:00 Wolves - Gia Darling, eye catcher on her last run kempton, was fancied there too, ran on towards the finish, so might appreciate an extra furlong. 3 entries from C. Appleby stable in the same race is discouraging but I'll have small nibble on her anyway.

Now back to 5:30 Q20 Boy went close over CD but that was in 2020, won on come back after over year off and ran ok twice after, good middle draw, he hasn't had many 6f starts, raced mainly over 5f but I suppose he's not getting faster getting older. Barrington drawn widest of all, hasn't won on a/w out of 28 starts but now has dropped in ratings and is on career low mark. Axel Jacklin has raked up a quite few '0' in his formbook but then was very fancied on the back after a break when beaten only by a head, and fancied again then next time when won as favorite. He has gone close of mark 57 and has won of 53, today he's running of mark 52, has wide-ish draw but shouldn't be too inconvenienced by it. I kinda leaning toward Axel to repeat his latest success.

6:00 Wolves - Vocatus finished 2nd in last two races but they were claimer/seller he's off the same mark today I don't know what to make out of that form but he chased 75 rated horse home in that claimer, sure that must be a good thing?

The other interesting one is Blue Artemis she's still very low mileage, only 3lb higher since her last win but claimer jockey takes 7 off, supposed to be favorite according to the betting forecast but has drifted madly since the the market opened and there could be a reason behind it. I was keen before I noticed the drift.

Diamond Jill is worthy favorite, winning here last time after having to switch around, she's only raised 1lb for that but that was a blanket finish of 7 or so in the line so it's understandable but I think she's might been further in front if had a clearer passage, her CD record is splendid, rarely finished out of places, now rated 61 as high she's ever been but good chance if in the same mood.

Seems ya have to be up at the crack of ruddy dawn to get a price 😒

Looked at odds there a while back, and, in 6o'c race Vocatus and The Bay Warrior have shortened massive since I put them up...

Aint what a feller wants ta see on a Monday - roll on Tuesday!

Good call there, leff, I wished I followed. I went with Axel that was beat by a head.

    Wish I backed it meself j@u 😓

No harm in following leff - ee gets an odd one right 😁 disappointed with Seb - he went with jolly and Peachey Carnahan... room for improvement methinks....

'punting depression' took hold when I saw prices of me two picks in upcoming 6o'c , and I was unable to venture forth to ye turfe accountant 😭

No shame in not finding that last winner, Kentucky Kingdom, in race just gone at Wolves... very hard to find at prices, with no real form to go on.. unless note was taken of those three Chelmsford wins.. very little worthwhile form from other courses eg Kempton, and esp two Tapeta tracks in Newcastle and the recently renovated Southwell... hard game this !

The Bay Warrior is 2nd @9/1, you'd be kicking yourself if he'd won, 9s is not to be sniffed at. I got my money back on Diamond Jill, breaking even on my ventures today so far, only Gia Darling left to put me into the green or red...

When I saw The Bay Warrior @ ~ 7s, I thought I'd leave him ooff ta fek.. he drifted a bit on the show alright.. I'm still numbed aving not been on Q Twenty, and did nae really care (at the time) whether The Warrior prevailed, or no... depression and annoyance would surely have set in about now, if my pick won - but he didn't 😃

anyroad, besta luck with Gia Darling later on, and Happy Valentine's Day to ya j@u 😊

game has me whipped today.. might wait til the morrow and hit the layers hard 😃

Just had a quick scan of 7o'c, and the unraced Faithhopeandglory has to be of interest - purely cos she's a 4yr old, and the rest are all 3yr olds.. have often seen an older horse oblige/come placed at massive prices in these sort of races...

Will side with Luckyboylovelywife (going on name as well as form 😎) at a decent price e/w... 'Sir' Bob likes her too!

C.Appleby's newcomer takes 7pm, as I expected. I'm watching House of Gucci (film) instead of horse racing tonight. Happy Valentine's to you too, leffesem.
