Insuring a Toyota Vitz

    Hi,

I put a deposit down on an automatic Toyota Vitz last week but I’m having an absolute nightmare trying to get it insured.

So far I have only been able to get one quote, every other website has come up that it doesn’t recognise the reg. After doing some research, I can see the issue might be that it’s a Japanese import but it’s been in Ireland and insured in Ireland for the last number of years by the previous owner so I’m not sure what the issue is.

So far the only quote I’ve managed to get is coming in at over 2k which is outrageous for a 1litre car. I bought this from a dealership and it was basically sold to me as a Yaris, they said it was the exact same. I was never told about any issues insuring Japanese imports.

If anyone could offer any advice or recommendations I’d be very grateful, thank you.

I'd say thats a good quote for someone on a learners permit. Worst about the Vitz is the ease to rob them.

Is it still a problem to get this Vitz insured?

I was looking for a 2017/18 models, but I found this post and I'm bit scared now.

I even tried to quote online at AA website with many Vitz registration plates but the website don't even find it. I had no issues with Yaris on the same website

Try LHK in Dundrum as got an 1989 Import insured.

If its the correct reg on Log Book and not a mixed up reg number on car.

Vitz is one of the most common cars that are robbed in Ireland. Jap import with no immobiliser, pair of vice grips and its gone. Might be hard to get insurance for that model
