We have 2 small dogs, and are thinking of going on a month long holiday later in the year to visit family abroad. Because it is such a long time we would be hesitant to leave them in a kennel, which is also quite an expensive exercise. In the past our dogs haven't enjoyed kennels, and come home looking in a bit of a sorry state. Just wondering whether anyone else has this problem, and whether there are trusted dog sitters around who would be happy to have dogs for a month or so. Or whether there are other options, we haven't done this for quite a long time.

What type of dogs are they and what is their exercise routine can they be off lead?

They are two small mixed rescued dogs, one of them is predominantly Jack Russel, the other is a fluffy thing that we can't identify any particular breed. They have the run of the house here, with access to our back yard through a dog flap, so they only get a walk once or twice in the week.

Try your local vets. They might have a few numbers for pet sitters. Maybe one of the nurses might pet sit for you themselves. Which would save them a months rent/keeping your dogs in their own home.

or maybe the rescue where you got the dogs…..one of those girls might pet sit on the side. I know when we go away that’s what we do.
