Illness benefit

I’ve been on illness benefit for a number of weeks now. An e-cert was provided by my GP to facilitate same. I am, however, still in hospital and may be for another number of weeks. How does it work? Do I need to contact my gp again, is it something that keeps getting paid until I declare I am back at work? Problem is I have had a tracheotomy so I can’t ring anyone !! Any advice appreciated - thanks in advance

In my experience the eCert done by the doc has an end date and if still unwell at the end of the cert you need to contact the GP to extend. You won't have to do another form just get the GP to submit further certs online on your behalf. Maybe they have an email you can contact?

Sorry to hear your in hospital OP , It's also my understanding that it's just matter of you getting your GP extend your cert and perhaps a family member might be able to contact the GP surgery in the AM. It's a great advantage your GP can do e certs (not all can) and is fully aware of your hospitalisation.
