which cylinder?

    Hi,

Trying to get my head around options for a new cylinder going into existing bungalow (I'm not a plumber).

Previous set up was a vented copper cylinder fed by storage tank in attic and heated by immersion/ indirectly by oil boiler (coil). 16 rads. Gravity Domestic. We have good mains pressure here.

Plan is to move cylinder next to where a boiler stove will be installed to give us option to heat rads and Domestic with boiler stove (thinking to use heat hero with this) and ideally retain ability to heat Domestic with oil boiler. We'd also like to have the option to heat Domestic with solar in the future (but not essential)... Rad/Heating pipework will be retained (as much as possible) but domestic pipework will be all new as new bathroom/kitchen going in. Domestic will need to be pressurised/pumped for shower, bath etc (pipes run to bathroom manifold through the attic)...

Thinking to go for a vented cylinder as like the idea that they are lower maintenance than unvented (also confused about whether boiler stoves and unvented cylinders are compatiable?). Also, ideally we wouldn't have a noisy pump in the press with the cylinder - though obvs if that's the best solution we'll put up with it...

AFAIK some of my options are:

    1) Joule Cyclone triple coil stainless steel -- AFAIK this is a vented cylinder as standard so the domestic side would have to be pumped AFTER it is heated with a shower pump?? There also seems to be the option to make it unvented and supply it with the mains but not sure if still compatiable with boiler stove with that setup?

    2) Copper Industries Maxipod -- seems a good option as can use the mains pressure for the domestic (no pump) but is vented so low maintenance and safe(r?) with boiler stove. Would it be straightforward to tie one of these in with the rads though (circulation pump is back in the oil boiler house)? Also only seems to have connections for two heat sources so no connection for solar if we already had oil boiler and boiler stove connected(?)

    3) Another type of Thermal Store type cylinder (not sure about this one)...

    Any help/explanations/recommendations greatly appreciated!
