Cleaning staining off an old aluminium case

Building myself a new personal workstation but decided to use an old but still nice aluminium case, which dating back from (i think) the early 2000's needs a little cleaning. There is however a little staining on the front which both water and a little IPA does not remove. Anyone have any idea how to clean it up? I have…

I have the suspicion it might have to be something abrasive like steel wool..
