Search within a forum?

Hi,

Since THE change I can't find an easy to search within a forum, is this possible anymore (without going to main search, filtering etc.)?

It's not possible from within the forum itself any more, no. You will need to use the main search. If you input what you are looking for and then click on Discussions under the search tab (on desktop) then you should see a Category filter on the right hand side which will allow you to filter by forum.

The results can be quite old. Is there a way to show them in reverse date order?

EDIT: Found that if I search, click to accept all the apparent rubbish, THEN in the results pane, add a Category filter and Sort by Date, it'll do what I want.

Out of interest-

1. What exactly is 'vBulletin'; is this the previous design?
2. It is technically possible to re-implement just the 'search within a forum' feature? If not, why not?

You used to be able to restrict your searches to specific threads, never mind forums.

Is this function now gone completely and will it return? Given the historic issues surrounding the search function on Boards going back to the early 2000s, I find it absolutely incredible that someone, somewhere along the line said "Yeah, we should revert to having a next-to-useless search engine, that'll keep the masses happy".

How is it an upgrade if functionality is being lost?

The site is a ghost town compared to what it used to look like. Surely Boards inc. are taking the new site developers to task over all this?

The search function is essentially useless as it is now, and really undermines the value of boards.ie. Without the ability to search within threads or forums, a lot of value is being lost. A shame really.

No one requested that, what was actually requested is that the search function be fixed as it's shite. It's likely one to be addressed by the vendors of whatever shite software this site now runs.

We're aware that the search function is not working as it should and work is being done on it. I don't have a date when it will be finished, the work is continuous. When there are any specific updates, I will post about them though to let people know.
