    Rick Shiels - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzvJkOXqX9Q

I found this interesting as I have the F9 3-wood and rescue and was considering going for the driver even though it is 2019.

If the price-point for an F9S is lower, then fair enough. But if they do market it as 'enhanced distance, more forgiving etc' and are charging the same/more as the original, then it's scummy.

Then again, the whole industry is bizarre - There's been nothing unique in regards to advertising at all in years. It's the same guff and somehow prices are constantly rising (ie ProVs)

I saw that video. It's dishonest, they're pretending it's an F9 and looking at the performance it's clearly not. It is cheaper than the new drivers, but I wonder if there was a new F9 now would it be around the same price? Also, it was marked £249, down from £379. The actual F9 wasn't even that price.

He did a video on a cheaper Taylormade a while back and it seems to be something similar to the F9s. Except they weren't pretending it was a SIM2 or anything. It was just a lower level Taylormade driver.

Don't forget lots of guys won't get on well with the low spin model and will get better distance out of the higher spin model.

It's a fallacy to produce one single product and expect it to perform the same for everyone. Rick shields has a tour level swing speed. This clubs looks like it's designed to spin more suitable for extra distance with guys with slower swingspeeds.

price increases are everywhere not just in golf equipment.

the pricing was from a store (clubhouse golf iirc)

that is dishonesty on their behalf

You can blame the store for the misleading pricing. Not the misleading pretending it is an f9.

It’s the marketing of them that bugs me. I know how inflation works etc.

Its blatant lies that annoy me - ‘more forgiving, longer distance’ etc. With no context behind them

This is not even remotely sneaky and there is a flaw in Rick Shields' testing, comparing a 10.5 driver lofted down is not the same as comparing 2 9 degree drivers. Changing the loft settings in predominantly changing the face angle and they do change flights but not to the extent that changing the actual loft does. It's no surprise then that he gets more spin and less ball speed resulting in less distance. The performance in the driver is less but not as much as he is saying.

As to Cobra being sneaky releasing a driver like this, they're not. It's an in house model for a store so they can sell it at a certain price point. I don't see how anyone can expect a low price point driver to have the same technology and performance as the higher priced ones. Someone buying a low price point driver is buying on price not performance, are they really worried that it goes a few yards less?

The sneaky part is pretending it's an F9. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't criticise them.

Also saying that is reduced from from 3xx to 2xx is a bit sneaky. I would just look for a Speedzone rather than buy this. I have actually seen the RAD for sale at 299 in some places.

Not sure why anyone would go for an inferior f9s when there’s plenty of used original F9s out there at this stage for probably less….

If you thought it was just an f9 and not an inferior one you'd likely be willing to pay that bit extra for it be new.
