How do I work out my total income while receving DA if I take up employment?

I just got a call and have an interview with a company tomorrow.

The job offers €10.50 p/h and it's a 39 hour week paid fortnightly, which means €819 every two weeks.

I currently receive the full DA rate p/w of €208.

I know that up to €140 is disregarded, but not sure how it works beyond that. I've looked at the citizens information page for it but I can't seem to make sense of it. I may very well just be a moron though.

Any help would be appreciated

First €140 disregarded.

€140 - €350. Half assessed. €110÷2= €55.

Balance fully assessed. In your case €409.5 -€350 = €59.50

Total means from employment should be €114.50.

€208 - €114.50 = €93.50 (new DA payment).

Just a rough guide as I did it on gross income. Assessable income is income less PRSI, superannuation and union dues but includes tax and USC.

Depending on your illness your claim may be referred to a Medical Assessor for review especially if the work is full- time.

As for being referred to a Medical Assessor, I suppose we'll see. Like I say, it's just an interview today. There's a manual dexterity test of some kind too today which I'm probably going to struggle with. Will report back if anyone is interested.

I dont understand how you worked this out ,,,,Every thing over 140 is divided in half and that is your means ,,so if you earn say 200,,you take away 140 as thats not counted ,, that leaves 60,,,,, half of 60 is 30 and that is your means , so you take 30 of your current DA payment of 208 which leaves 178 added to the 200 so you would take home 378 combined DA and wages assumming you are single as i was ,,,,,,this was how mine was worked out when i was working ..i was not earning enough to pay tax etc,,,

im not saying its wrong ,just confusing

and its all different if you are cohabitating ,i have no idea of how that works

It was worked out as per link.

First €140 disregarded.

€140 - €350 assessed at 50%.

Anything over €350 assessed in full.

The op stated expected earnings would be €409.50

PRSI would be taken from gross to get assessable wages.
