basin waste removal

Hi, i am trying to remove a basin waste which looks very different under the sink. The u-bend is connected straight on to this. Does anyone know how to remove or loosing is as it wont budge Thanks Colin

managed to get if off. just took a bit back and forth with the grips and a rag
