    Hi there,

My wife and I are looking at buying a home in the Rathnew area of Wicklow, however I work in Ballymount and my shift starts at 8 every morning. Google maps say it roughly takes 45 minutes but was hoping someone here might know what time I’d be safe to leave at to make it in on time? Also open to opinions on Rathnew, good place to live etc??

Google's travel timings may not be entirely accurate with the numbers on the roads still being low because of Covid. Pre 2020 the N11 was very busy in the mornings, and I assume the M50 too, but if you're starting at 8 you'd miss the worst of it.

Can't really comment on Rathnew - it had a bit of rough reputation in the past, but with all the development it's effectively merged with Wicklow Town now. Some of the estates described as "Rathnew" are closer to Wicklow. It's a nice area in terms of amenity - countryside, mountains, the sea etc.

@loyatemu Thank you for your response. I guessed as much with Google maps not being entirely accurate. A lot to ponder for sure. Much appreciated. 👍🏻
